Food Sociology

Silvia Wiegel's work focuses on sociological research on cooperatives and 'alternative food networks' (AFN). Her research deals with cooperatives and their connection to values and socio-economic structures in society. The scope of her research also goes beyond legally registered cooperatives. So far, the emphasis has been on self-help organisations of older people, so-called senior citizens' cooperatives, as well as cooperative organisations of Community Supported Agriculture (CSA).
